What Should I Do If The Operation Of Diesel Generator Sets Is Unstable?

Diesel generator sets will encounter unstable work during the use process, how should we solve them?

1. The governor cannot reach the minimum speed.

Remedy: The high-pressure oil pipes of the upper 4 cylinders of the high-pressure oil pump were cut off one by one, and it was found that the blue smoke disappeared after the third cylinder was disconnected. After the shutdown, the third-cylinder injector was disassembled, and the fuel injection pressure test was performed on the injector. As a result, it was found that the third-cylinder injector assembly was dripping and the amount was very small.

2. Each cylinder of the generator set does not work well, resulting in different compression pressures of each cylinder.

Remedy: Check the oil gauge in the oil pan of the diesel engine to see if the oil viscosity is too low or the amount of oil is too much, so that the oil enters the combustion chamber and evaporates into unburned oil and gas and is discharged from the exhaust pipe. However, it was found through inspection that the quality and quantity of the engine oil complied with the diesel engine oil regulations.

3. The elastic force of the internal speed control spring of the governor is weakened, which changes the speed control performance.

Remedy: After starting the diesel generator set, increase the speed to about 1000r/min, and observe whether the speed is stable, but the sound of the generator set is still unstable, and the fault has not been eliminated.

4. There is air, moisture, or oil supply in the fuel supply system.

Elimination method: loosen the bleed screw of the high-pressure oil pump, press the hand oil pump, and remove the air in the oil circuit.

5. The amount of oil supplied by the plunger of each sub-cylinder in the high-pressure oil pump is more related.

Remedy: Tighten the oil return screws of the high and low pressure oil pipes of the diesel engine.

6. The speed of the governor cannot reach the calibrated speed.

Remedy: Remove the high-pressure oil pump assembly and perform technical inspections on the interior of the governor. It is found that the adjustment gear rod is not flexible. After repair, adjustment and assembly, start the diesel engine until the speed reaches about 700r/min, and observe whether the diesel engine works smoothly. If no abnormality is found during the inspection, the fault will be eliminated.

7. The rotating parts inside the governor are unbalanced or the fit clearance is too large.

Remedy: Take out a thin copper wire close to the diameter of the nozzle hole from a thin wire to dredge the nozzle hole. After dredging the test, it was found that the nozzle assembly sprayed normally, and then the fuel injector was assembled and the diesel engine was started. It was found that the blue smoke disappeared, but the diesel engine speed was still unstable.
