There are differences between voltage regulation and frequency regulation: in a system, the frequency value is consistent regardless of region, and the balance of active power is also the power balance of the entire system; and the voltage level is inconsistent in different power consumption areas , the reactive power balance is mainly the balance in different areas, and the ability of the power plant to adjust the voltage can only be within a small area around it.

If it is not reduced, the excitation must be increased accordingly; when the power factor is low, the burden of the excitation system will be increased. In order not to exceed the excitation current at full load rated conditions, the generator output (kW and kVA) should be limited. To ensure the stable operation of the generator, maintain a certain stability margin between parallel motors, control the excitation of the generator to avoid phase-advance operation, not reduce the excitation current too small, and take measures to prevent loss of excitation.
4. The excitation system not only plays a very important role in the operation of the generator, but also is the weakest part of the generator with the highest failure rate in structure. Therefore, in order to ensure the safety of power generation, sufficient attention must be paid to the excitation system after shutdown. Necessary inspections must be carried out before starting the machine, especially the brush device of the coaxial exciter. The technical condition of the brush, brush holder and commutator surface should be checked, and purging should be carried out if necessary; Frequently check the brush for fire and jump; strengthen the inspection, repair and maintenance of the excitation system is one of the important means to prevent the generator from malfunctioning.
5. Another feature of the standby Volvo generator set is that it is “supported for a thousand days and used once.” Therefore, when it is not in use, it is likely to be damp. The most active preventive measure is to ask the manufacturer to perform moisture-proof treatment on the winding insulation on site. If the internal temperature of the generator can be made 5-10c higher than the environment, it is an effective moisture-proof method. If it has been damp and the insulation is unqualified, it must not apply voltage to the motor and must be dried first. In addition, the regular trial operation of the generator is carried out.
