Diesel generator set installation and test run

(1) Installation

The diesel generator set should be fixed on the basis of cement and sand, its thickness is three to four times the diameter of the engine cylinder, and the length and width are about 20cm larger than the diesel generator set. The foundation can be raised above the ground or flush with it as required, and 30cm wide isolation trenches are constructed around it. The foundation surface shall be flat, and the base of the unit shall be fixed after leveling with this surface.

The outlet surface of the radiator of the water tank is connected to the exhaust outlet on the wall through a soft exhaust hood, and its connection is sealed.

The exhaust pipe, commonly known as the smoke exhaust pipe, is a pipe that exhausts exhaust gas when the engine is working, with high temperature and loud noise. Usually, mufflers are installed to reduce the interference of exhaust gas noise to the environment. It is attached to a bracket hanging from the roof above the unit.

The installation position of the oil storage tank should be higher than the unit, and the oil pipeline should be bent as little as possible, which is conducive to the flow of fuel to the engine. The diesel fuel in the tank should meet the operation of the unit for 8 hours. The oil storage tank should be round, because the same volume, the circular shape size is small and the material consumption is less.

The power distribution cabinet is the control hub of the external output power of the diesel generator set, which is generally placed near the wall and easy to operate. Above the synchronous generator of most units is the wiring cabinet, where the power cable is connected to the three-phase winding joint U, V, W of the generator, the middle line N, and the PGND cable PE, and then enters the distribution cabinet through the gutter. The three-phase live wire is connected to the main control circuit breaker.

The signal line for remote monitoring or network control of the unit control cabinet should be exported from the trench through the galvanized pipe.

In order to transport safety, diesel generator sets are generally not connected to the use of batteries. After the unit is positioned and installed, the battery is firmly connected according to the polarity.

(2) Startup preparation and debugging

After the diesel generator set and its related devices and equipment are installed. Do a thorough inspection before you are ready to start the machine. Because the unit from the final assembly plant to the user’s machine room, it has to go through several times of lifting and handling, and bumps and vibrations are inevitable. It is also common to see rain and dust through the vent shutters of the engine or generator. The work of checking and preparing for startup generally has the following items:

① Carefully check and touch all exposed pipelines and joints of diesel generator sets, the joints of parts, and various fastening screws and nuts for loosening or displacement, and if so, it should be corrected.

② Special attention should be paid to the shoulder positioning of the diesel engine and the synchronous generator and the connection firmness and coaxiality of the elastic coupling.

(3) Touch the control cabinet (screen), the electronic governor and the outside world connected to various cables and plugs to ensure good contact.

④ Open the shutters of the engine and generator vents, check whether there is water or foreign matter inside, if there should be timely removal.

⑤ Check the transmission belt of the radiator fan of the water tank to ensure its tightness.

⑥ Turn on the switch of the control cabinet and test the indicator light. Observe whether the indicator of the instrument or LCD display is normal.

⑦ Carefully read the random user manual and prepare for boot as required.

⑧ Fill the coolant and oil, and open the pipeline switch of the oil storage tank leading to the unit.

After these preparations are made, you can start the test run: switch the function selection button on the control cabinet to manual or test gear, pull off the generator output main switch, and start the diesel generator set. If you can not get up once, you need to wait 30 seconds and start again, three times did not start, you should stop to find the reason.

After the diesel generator set starts up, distinguish the working sound of the engine and the generator is abnormal. Through the instrument and display screen, such as oil temperature, pressure, coolant temperature, engine speed, generator output voltage, frequency and other operating parameters are consistent with the factory technical indicators. If there are different places, need to adjust accordingly. Bring it back to the normal parameter range.
